Always have a suitable margin in capacity preferably 10% or more 2. Utilise VFDs if you are concerned high starting current/torque. 3. Pay attention to orientation of elbows collecting dust and piping size. Keep some margin in piping size. Apart from that ensure operator vigilance to identify presence of dust on floor (not on railings). If dust is found on floors the installed dedusting system lacks capacity.

Identification and risk assessment for dust explosions involve recognizing materials prone to explosion, assessing their particle size, concentration, and dispersion, evaluating ignition sources, considering containment measures, and implementing preventive measures such as ventilation, inerting, and explosion suppression systems to mitigate the risk effectively.

Situations I've lived personally been through: Realize that residues can remain on maintenance and production workers clothes, so hazards may be transferred to nonhazardous areas! A maintenance worker engaged in hotwork outside the hazardous area was severely burned when a spark started his residue-soaked work clothes afire. A maintenance worker engaged with permitted hotwork just outside an explosionproof area was engulfed in an unusual cloud of flammable dust and ignited an outdoor primary explosion. Hotwork permits and the selection of explosionproof boundaries are not just paperwork!
