It often takes a tremendous amount of time and energy to produce AR/VR. Investing time to plan will ultimately save time - the last thing you want to do is start a project that you cannot finish. On the contrary there is value in building, testing and learning (BTL), however even using an agile framework like BTL its still important to set a goal and map out a few scenarios to get there. The way you think might not be the ultimate path that gets you there, in fact how you get there may not even have been thought about.

AR/VR apps are not just about visuals. They are about creating a multisensory and emotional experience that connects the user with the app and the environment. Therefore, you need to design for the user's senses and emotions, not just for the screen. Given most people are experiencing AR/VR via mobile devices its important to acknowledge that you may need to pipe a tremendous amount of data over the air. If you or your user is in a spot with poor connection then there is a high chance they will not be able to pull the experience you intent. Tradeoffs range from lowering the quality to removing features (e.g. animation) - but something might be better than nothing or you should be extra intentional with your users and suggest that the experience is not intended to be experienced in the wild (and or must be pre-loaded/downloaded)

AR/VR apps are not isolated products. They are part of a larger ecosystem of mobile applications, platforms, and devices.
