It's important for the facilitator to know the system and the art of conducting a session remotely. The platforms like Microsoft Teams, will give you the opportunity to make groups, break teams, conduct activities and even to ensure that the learning objectives are accomplished. It requires a sincere approach to design the module very systematically and practise well in advance. It also requires the facilitator to have a fluent delivery, in remote platforms. It's important to be impressive in appearance and communication. Finally to plan the session keeping little extra time in hand and the distribution of the topic with a continuous flow of events are absolutely necessary to keep the energy and drive on for the learning topics.

Engagement is key for L&D for me. No one wants death by PowerPoint for hours on end. Some pre-reading helps bring some background info. Understand that pre-learning and then use it to build engagement into the sessions. This keeps the learners on the ball and also builds confidence as they reinforce their understanding of the key concepts. Try get everyone involved by mixing your interactions. Have breakout rooms use chat bars play “pass the baton” to encourage everyone to partake in the session. If the bandwidth allows have cameras on so people can see the passion in which you are delivering the topic and can feed off your body language. Avoid busy slides use animations to build them up so people are focused on your point.

Having the ability to design with flexibility and adaptability is the key challenge for L&D when the organization is hybrid or remote. Learners need to be able to access learning when their schedule allows, and in the format that their technology allows. This leads to the need for a variety of learning solutions which unfortunately many standard LMS platforms struggle to accommodate, and the ones that have some ability may not be in the budget. One solution is recognizing available people resources within departments in the company and partnering with them to create learning experiences. This means prioritizing coaching/mentoring, a la carte offerings for personalized growth, and partnering with department leaders to be more proactive.

Think about the needs of your audience/learners to be engaged in any sort of workflow. In that, are they normally on their laptop at home? In the office? On-site at a factory or in a lab? Where does their learning naturally take place? This will help you design your L&D programs for optimal engagement.

Furthermore, creating a learning culture that allows for personalization based upon one’s generation, career aspirations, and life stage can be incentivizing. For example, a tenured professional in his late 50s may value a reverse mentoring relationship, paired up with a millennial who can up-skill him on social media and the latest technologies. A recently hired Gen Zer,unsure of her path, may appreciate rotational assignments or exposure on a project team in another division. Every employee should have a development plan, with a menu of options, be coached on how it can be tailored and updated with an explanation on how that employee’s contributions impact the bottom line.

I totally agree, social learning is very critical. It creates excitement about training offerings and can promote uptake of the same. There is also to communicate or market to staff training offerings so that they are aware and they are reminded.

I find it crucial that everyone in the learning community has a say in their own learning as opposed to being told what they need to learn. This can be done by transparently having a set of knowledge and skills necessary for each role or for each level of growth in the company, and the KPIs that measure the attainability of those skills. Employees can then decide what they perceive they need to learn and the modality they see fit. The availability of different modalities to learn -such as synchronous, a synchronous, peer-to-peer learning- gives more chances for everyone and ensures a more inclusive learning environment.

The opportunity to engage and Interact with participants is challenging. 2. Technology Reliance where connectivity is a challenge posses a problem and limit effective of the program 3. Assessment and Monitoring learner progress effectively is more complex without the direct observation. 4. There is no adapting of learning experiences to individual needs and learning styles. 5. Time Zone Differences would pose a challenge In global organizations, managing training across different cultures and time zones. There are opportunities in the face of these challenges.

An important trend in L & D, whether in remote, hybrid or physical environments is the utilization of virtual reality and augmented reality in order to create immersive experiences. It has been shown how these tools contribute to more effective and more time efficient learning. Taking part in a learning scenario in virtual reality is not like watching a video or taking part in an exercise in a classroom environment, but it is like 'being inside the film'.
