Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that records and verifies transactions without the need for a central authority or intermediary. Blockchain enables trustless, transparent, and immutable transactions, such as cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and digital identity. I see the role of Blockchain in the integrity of the IoT network as follows. Firstly, the vulnerability of IoT devices, most of them do not easily accommodate the addition of extensive security systems. Blockchain and Smart Contracts contribute to access authentication and rules. There is also the aspect where IoT requires communication with the decentralized network for authentications. This integration needs consideration regarding the choice of the Blockchain layer to be used and the communication capabilities of the IoT devices before deployment.
