In my experience if it is important to the client it has to become important to the staff so that they are aware and equipped to properly respond, especially in the meeting industry where things happen live. Yes goals need to be realistic, but it is okay to add some dreaming in there as well. I do agree that communicating to the client may be a bit much as the client would have communicated to your their desires for the meeting and this in when the goal setting should really come into play.

It may be a good idea to note that while Green Meeting Design is a trend that is here to stay, in the current marketplace delivering on these ideals may require added budget. These options are there, but often at an inflated price, which after all is added up may be a significant increase in budget.

No matter how you slice it, it will be hard to determine the true impact of these types of events for a while. It will take years of notes and reports to fully understand the impact of these events, but perhaps the reality is that by that time, the added price will just be the expected result of inflation.
