What are effective ways to recognize and appreciate employees in HR operations?

HR professionals handle all areas of the employee life cycle. WE SEE what salary they ask for upon applying. WE SEE how eager they are to start (or not). WE HEAR the suggestions, complaints, concerns, or reasons for quitting. WE KNOW who asks for raises and who deserves them. HR professionals are in the background taking in an immense amount of valuable information that leaders could use to recruit and retain qualified people. Yet many times, nobody listens. LISTEN TO YOUR HR STAFF. they know what’s going on with your people. They want what’s best for them and the company. Don’t tout company culture and not listen to the people who know how to make it happen! Ask their advice, ask what they are seeing, seek their help. Best recognition!

Dedicating time to engage in open and meaningful conversations with the employees, providing constructive feedback, and actively listening to their perspectives are invaluable. Communication serve as a sincere expression of gratitude for their hard work and unwavering commitment. Nothing surpasses the authenticity and personal touch and interaction with employees.

From my prospective we need to focus we need recognize employees with compensation not only a moral way also we need to consider developing plan for them to encourage them to continue performing well to be the next successor and generation of leaders inside the organization.

In any organization, employees are the backbone of success, and recognizing and appreciating their contributions is vital for maintaining a motivated and engaged workforce. I personally focus on good and polite communication with employees. If they are having a bad day then by talking to them politely will boost their energy in a positive way. Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and milestones. Reward employees for their dedication and loyalty to the organisation by recognising their accomplishments and special days. Make a company-wide announcement for each employee's work anniversary, thanking them for their continued efforts to your organisation. As everyone came abroad to make money so try to reward low grade employees, financially and Ofcourse within company policies and budget.

I work in a Company that values employee development in all its forms. Embedding a learning culture in your organization not only motivates employees to want to learn new things everyday but gives them the platform and the time to invest in their personal development which eventually pours into the success in their roles and also boosts their morale and sense of ownership.

After any interview especially with junior candidates who are looking to enhance their career, I usually gave them feedback and advice for their CV writing, their goals, and what steps or training courses they should think of to reach their goals, regardless of the interview result. It really matters and has a big impact on these candidates, and it is a simple way to say thank you to those candidates who made efforts to meet up with us for an interview :)

In international organizations like the UN, fostering staff appreciation is essential for maintaining morale, motivation, and productivity. Provide access to a diverse range of training programs, workshops, and certifications relevant to HR operations. I believe that proper communication, empowerment and ownership of their role, along with the trust and support, is the best way to recognize employees. It is a strong way to show value for their contributions.

Having been in HR Ops for a while now, a great way to celebrate achievements and milestones is to find out what drives each individual. Do they appreciate gifts? Send them a small token of appreciation they can actually use like a customized laptop cover or desk organizer. Are they more inclined to enjoy words of affirmation? Give them a shout out on the company's social media channels, internal IM channels and newsletters. Spotlight them if they're ok with that (some folks don't like that so be sure to get their permission beforehand if you plan to feature them broadly). Do they enjoy experiences? Plan an outing. I recently took my direct reports to lunch at a fun place and then to the aquarium out of town. We had a blast!

Acknowledging their work by giving them a shout out, checking in on them by saying are you doing ok, how may I help you, work-life balance, rewarding them with career advancement, transparency, and great benefits and rewards, such as competitive compensation.

Often HR Ops teammates are not seen or heard. However, much of what it takes to keep a company ticking away is highly important. Everyone is different; as a manager or cross-functional partner: 1?? Get to know them and what ignites that motivation whether it is verbal words of affirmation, team recognition, a small token/gift or team bonding. 2?? If you manage them or work with them cross functionally, speak TO them, NOT AT them. 3?? Give credit where credit is due so they feel part of something bigger that has great impact. 4?? Find out how they like to celebrate small milestones, achievements or rollouts. 5?? Share with them how their work contributes to the bigger picture and how impactful it is.

Recognizing and celebrating employees is the best way to encourage them you can use some initiatives like pat on the back program and showing to them how the impact of the contributions of them in the organization stratgic achievements .

I find that recognition is one of the simplest, yet most effective way of employee retention. It may be a simple announcement on an employee's recent achievement (a big goal, an accomplished KPI beyond expectations, etc), but the impact on the employee's job satisfaction is often underestimated. Paying attention to their life achievements as well is something we can easily accomplish with day-to-day communications and coffee chats. Being able to say things like "I am so proud of you for accomplishing this!" "I am so happy for you for reaching this milestone!", makes such a huge difference. As much as employees are 'supposed' to work and accomplish this things, doesn't mean we can't appreciate the effort they put in to do so!

This one is big. You don't want to have Yes-mans in your team, so even if you are 100% sure in any decision, act like you are not, and ask the team what they would suggest. Then elaborate what are they saying with them, show them the risks of that (without pushing your opininon) and ask how are those risk going to be resolved. Who knows, maybe in the end you will take their suggestion.

I work in a hybrid work model where I can work from home and the managers allow flexibility with trust my commitment to my clients and work goals. That flexibility allows work life balance within reason and the constructive supportive teamwork environment with autonomy makes the role one which is tough to beat! Ideas are welcomed, virtual coffee chats are encouraged, questions and collaboration is celebrated and encouraged. We have a high workload but it’s rewarding.

I found it helpfull to give breaks and to leave work early if they finish there work, also to excuse them if they have any urgent matters. Also give them off days or work from home whenever they need.

Both physical and mental health of team members is very important. As a line manager one need to ensure that the team members do not face professional burnouts. Showing them the importance of work life balance and asking them to follow the same religiously will help them both professionally and personally. Team members who enjoy a healthy work life balance are more productive and do better time management, both at work and at home.

Personal recognition from managers at all levels is important to all employees, and a lack of recognition can lead to negative perceptions of the workplace. It is vital that HR colleagues are recognised and valued. Identify non value add activities and decide what to automate or discontinue. This would be a great help. With GenAI now for rescue, repeat activities can be automated using AI and saved time can be used to upgrade other processes

1. Listen. HR Ops is normally very sensitive to the organization’s changes, so if they care for the org, they tend to have lots of alerts and concerns. Good listening along with appropriate solutions will add a great sense of value for HR Ops members. Streamlined instructions on issue classification and priority ranking is highly essential. 2. Empower. The tasks of HR Ops tend to be very versatile, and sometimes very private. Micro-managing HR Ops would normally lead to operational delays, stress, and in the end, bad employee experience. 3. Acknowledge. This depends on the job scopes and the expectations of the company: detail-oriented or achievement-oriented? Focus on HR service or internal process? Define them then celebrate accordingly.

HR operations team is a very transaction heavy team. We process many transactions during the day. We assist in running smooth payroll, effectively resolving employee queries, etc. Apart from being appreciative of their work, I think there are two ways in which the HR operations team can be recognised: 1) provide them enough technology to be able to get their work done in a quicker and more effective way. 2) They hear the grievances of many employees, but no one hears theirs. So they should also have a HR POC, with whom they can speak and seek replies from. And to be able to share feedback about things going right or otherwise.
