What does a robotics instructor do?

I am a Robotics instructor working for FANUC, the world's leading company in the field. The role of a Robotics teacher is to impart knowledge, incorporating concepts of integration, flexibility, adaptability to other systems, safety, and optimization of programs. Each robotics course, unique every day, also requires significant psychological skills, interaction with different people, understanding, and empathy. Our goal is to ensure that each participant feels involved, satisfied, and confident in using a highly advanced technological product, something they didn’t even dream of approaching the day before. Far from just showing slides, this job requires high competence that spans multiple sectors and includes deep experience in the field.

As a robotics instructor, i think the term "Robotics" is rather broad and generic. Specializing in a particular area in Robotics allows you to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in that area. So, you have to find your niche in robotics before becoming an instructor. This not only benefits your own professional development but also enhances the quality of education you can provide. Robotics is not like other fields, it is inherently practical and students benefit greatly from applying theoretical knowledge to real-world projects. So, having a strong educational background in robotics, engineering, computer science, or a related field cannot be overemphasized.

With over 15 years of experience in industrial automation, I excel in planning, programming, and practical implementation across diverse sectors. Teaching or mentoring experience is plus, & you should be able to create engaging lessons & workshops for students of various ages & levels. Your roles & responsibilities may vary depending on where you work, whether it's in schools, colleges, universities, online platforms, community centers, or after-school programs & age group you teach.

Here's a simple answer for that. -GET YOUR PARTICIPANTS/STUDENTS excited about the future of robotics in a positive perceptive -Also discuss the downsides, and disadvantages in a grand scale so doing these two things will set a curiosity and responsibility to them and will make your job easier. Try teaching your students/participants practical uses and make them implement IRL, so the enthusiasm and excitement stays. Talk about new discoveries and findings by companies and research institutes.

One of my biggest struggles is to find the perfect balance between lecture and hands-on. Most of your students will want to jump into the hands-on. The lecture should be short enough to get everyone to the bases of exploring the equipment. The lecture should provide direction for the hands-on not a step by step video of the lab.

The biggest challenge is to always be up to date and at the same level as the customer. Especially in the field of machinery and plant engineering, many customers have systems that are 10 years or older. On the other hand, we always want to provide our customers with the latest technologies and the new possibilities they offer.

It is great fun to work every day with the technology that moves the world forward. Automation and robotics make life easier for the masses and increase the quality of products. They also save resources. It gives me great pleasure to pass on my knowledge and train other people.
