Looking at the best and most effective Hotel General Managers, I think it’s vital that they are versatile leaders who prioritise guest satisfaction, operational efficiency and excellence, both top and bottom line and that they understand their flow through in their operations. They need to spend a great deal of time on team development to stay attuned with industry trends and the overall labour market dynamics. They posses emphatic leadership skills and qualities, they are strategic leaders that has the operational skills to ensure the overall success and performance of the team and the hotel. A Hotel Manager should have a degree or diploma in Hotel Management as basic qualification. He should have a good knowledge of core subjects like Front Office, House Keeping, Food & Beverage Service and Food Productions. He / She should possess the knowledge in auxiliary subjects like Sales & Marketing, Stores Keeping, Accounting, Security etc to excel into the role of Manager in a hotel.
