What do you do if you're struggling to stay motivated as a digital learning consultant?

If you are feeling unmotivated, it may be time to ask if this work is still important to you. If not, it may be time to pivot toward work that is more meaningful to you. If you decide this work is still important to you, then seek to connect to former clients who have had a strong positive change because of your work. Seeing the difference you have made in other people's lives can help motivate you to move forward.

Break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks and celebrate each accomplishment. Seek inspiration from success stories or connect with mentors and peers in the industry for support and guidance. Set aside time for self-care and relaxation to avoid burnout. Experiment with new techniques or approaches to keep your work fresh and engaging. Remember to reflect on your achievements and your positive impact through your work to reignite your motivation.

I always find it useful when struggling with creativity to seek inspiration from others. First off I always take a step away from the desk and immerse myself in some nature to press reset. I always find using forums I am part of or doing a bit of research on how to do things differently can be helpful, I use alot of CIPD articles on up and coming trends and as a visual learner I use the eLearning Heroes forum to search through templates/examples that can sometimes help to ignite a spark!

It's easy to get burned out doing this type of work. When one project ends, another begins. And on and on it goes. It's hard to stay motivated when this happens. Make self care a priority. Have set times when you're working and when you shut down. If you work remote, this is even more important. Don't be afraid to say "no" so you'll have time to sleep, eat, and take care of yourself.

I agree this field can be a total minefield and is constantly evolving and developing. I love reading and use half an hour every morning on personal development whether that be reading about up and coming innovations, reading self-help books to get my head in a good and more focused place or researching ways to do things differently. I also love listening to a podcast on a morning work and find that this can really help me learn and think of new ways to make my work exciting.

Self-Care is power. When I feel myself in a mental block or just find myself staring at my laptop and not achieving anything I know its time for some self-care. My go to is to go for a dip in the sea, a long walk or a run to get the blood moving again. I know as well that when I get stressed I often crave 'junk' so allowing myself that and then quickly getting back on track with good sleep and healthy eating

I work from home 3 days a week and in the office 2 days a week. I find that the office days break my week up nicely and enable to get the social element of work that I need to recharge my batteries for the isolation of home working. I often treat myself on a Friday to a work out day, whether thats heading to a local cafe to enjoy coffee and cake whilst I log on or just sit and work somewhere with a view. I know that the change in environment stops me from going stagnant. It can also be nice to arrange to meet up with other homeworks, brainstorm things out, collaborate and network often inspires fresh perspective.

Environment matters. And I am referring to our internal architecture as the external hardscapes. It's very important to take breaks and step back. Incubation is key in becoming more creative, and by that I mean better at problem solving. For sure our work and living environment impacts motivation. I personally like a lot of color and vibrant energy. And when I get stuck, that's a great time to check out another environment -go for a walk, look at the sky, notice some new plants growing. Inspirations and queues to problem solving may be found in all environments. And that's good news!

Be kind and compassionate to yourself, berating yourself or getting down on yourself never helps. It’s OK to take a break maybe even walk away for an hour half a day and day whatever you need to do and reassess and reach for what keeps that sparkle in your eyes, including curiosity, mindfulness, achievement of your goals, and or balance lifestyle through the availability of digital learning and is very very flexible nature
