One of the most difficult challenges that writers face is online presence because many writers prefer a life where there is a little use of internet so that they can focus on their writing without distractions ?? There is no doubt that there are many writers around the world, but what the world needs is someone who is able to penetrate through people’s thoughts and emotions using words. By being online and having a presence, this will not only attract to you potential clients but it will also help you build your brand in the long term.

If you are struggling to find clients, here three things you should look at. ? These days, publishing your own content is not optional. A portfolio is not enough. Clients have too many writers to choose from. One way the differentiate is by seeing how you go about building your own following online. ? Do you have a clear picture of your ideal client? Your promotional effort must focus on solving a specific kind of problem. You have to manage your resources too. So it makes sense to be clear on who your ideal client is. Then, you promote just to that group. ? Promote yourself everyday. Do something everyday that can help bring a client. Send a message. Make a post. Publish something new. These are the basics you can start with.

Diversify your writing in different areas. You can write on different topics that you love in different sectors such as social media, in your wrbsite or others' websites. When you will show your writing skills in different area, people will love and contact you. Be professional wherever you write something. This will increase trust on your writing. If you don't find client, you can start blogging, e-book writing or others writing. There are many ways to generate money without clients.

If you can find the right events, you could get some of your best clients that way. In fact, I got my first $10,000 client through a networking event. I met a long-standing client through a typo on their website. I found their marketing director on LinkedIn and messaged her pointing it out, but also just saying that I was available if they ever outsourced content. Naturally, it helps if there's a natural synergy between who you target and your work (this client was within my niche). It's not even about being salesy, in fact, it's the opposite. Just reach out, be nice, have a conversation and take it from there.

One thing that has worked for me is joining paid online groups. These groups usually have people who are serious about their businesses. There is a level of trust that comes with being part of a private group. So it's easier to connect with people. Now, you don't just rush into cold outreach. What you do is you contribute to the group. You connect with people and get to know them. Let the working relationship develop naturally. So when you outreach, you don't pitch. Instead, you just start a conversation. It's just a matter of time, if you are a good fit for each other. Remember, the wrong pitch can destroy your chances forever. So take your time and use cold outreach to build relationships.
