There are a lot of useless overpowered software tools out there. Assessing needs is at the top of my list – but t is not easy. I love SWOT and advise entrepreneurs to start there, even with a simple spreadsheet or piece of paper (explanation here). Then ask other folks who are in your space for recommendations (competitors, mentors, friends). Use the freeware trial version first. Finally, consider whether the tool can be scaled and integrated with other tools, and whether it provides you real ROí, or is just a “neat to have”tool. So in short: - What do you need? - What has worked for others? - Did you try before you buy? - Does it scale, integrate, and deliver useful ROI?

The biggest lesson that I learned as an entrepreneur is to budget for taxes! In the early days of business, I was a contractor so no taxes were taken from my check. At the end of the year, I had a huge tax bill and it almost put me out of business before I got started. Since then, I always had a "tax project" where I made enough money to pay my projected annual taxes. As my business grew, I paid quarterly taxes - which also helped to offset that huge bill at the end of the year.

I still use the old marketing "test and learn" methodologies.

For content production, digital or offline, Canva works very well, in addition to being user-friendly and easy to use. For content creation, digital or offline, Canva is an excellent solution. Choosing the right tools will depend on the entrepreneur's needs and the specifics of their business and their personal preferences To understand market trends, Google trends works very well.

Learn to use AI to supplement what you are great at or know well enough to know the difference between good and bad output. Set up expert advisors personas to brainstorm with. I have a brand, marketing team and have built recruiting and process GPTs to show clients what is possible.

Learn to delegate. I understand that as a solopreneur "no one can or will do it as well as you do", but if you can learn to delegate lower-level tasks or projects and even if they're completed to 80% of your level of ability or quality, your ability get those items off your plate frees you to focus on the higher-level initiatives. Remember, it's best to address challenges early, before they become overwhelming. Don't wait until things are about to explode – by then, it might be too late.
