What do you do if you're a Quality Assurance professional struggling to adapt to new methodologies?

If you are a QA struggling to adapt to new changes there are few things that can be done to overcome this: 1)Accept it that this is the new tool or technology you need to learn 2)Go through any articles, websites or workshop to understand the basics, more than anything take it step by step 3)Take a course on that, start with very basics and start practising everyday 4)Seek mentoring from your coworkers who are working on this or have worked. They are the best people to help you speeden up your process 5)Just keep an open approach and do your part and practise as much as possible and you should be able to adapt to it

Quality Assurance is an area where you need to be ready to learn and adopt new techniques and strategies all the time and you can’t hang your jogging shoes. However, good thing is that there is abundance of opportunities for self learning i.e. Internet, online courses, professional programs, and literature etc. These opportunities can be utilised easily without affecting your routine work. Also, we need to have willingness and patience to learn from wherever it is possible, be it a colleague, friend or family member, if they know the subject well. We cannot assume that after so many years of working, we have learned everything and so we shall not hesitate to attend useful programs/ sessions as and when required.

In that case, 1. First try to find similarities between the new tool and the tool which you already worked. 2. Try to use your knowledge and experience you had previously to adopt the new tool easily. 3. Figure out the advantages you have in the new tool and use it wisely to make you feel easy to work on that. 4. Find out any real time projects in the github and go through it. 5. Follow the tutorials in YouTube from the channels you regularly follow. 6. Be active in community forums for the tool. 7. Go through the official documentations.

Seek Training: To understand about the new techniques and how they are being implemented, enroll in seminars or courses. Mentoring: Seek advice from mentors or seasoned coworkers who are knowledgeable about the newest techniques. Most times they just need more time. A leader would recognize both learning skills of an individual and work with them on improving.

I have personally found that being the driver within my quality deperarment, it is my control that regularly training or advice is being offered at the right times. My company purchased three new measuring equipment in which all my department had training on. Introducing training is a good way to keep staff motivated as it also gives them an incentive to do more for the company if they feel like they're being Invested in.
