Finding a mentor is undoubtedly beneficial, but as we progress in our careers, we often encounter ‘mentorship’ in our everyday conversations with peers, managers, or stakeholders. This type of mentorship significantly shapes our journey (!). These connections—whether officially recognised or organically developed—can foster mutual growth and long lasting professional relationships, potentially having a greater impact than traditional mentorships. So, my advice is not to fixate solely on seeking a mentor; instead, be open to recognising the guidance that's already being provided by those around you, often without their even realising it.

Finding the mentor is the most difficult task. Personally, I believe that if a company invests in a mentoring program, it must have a high degree of openness because during mentoring it is not difficult to come to the conclusion that the mentee is in the wrong business or even in the wrong company. So, I really believe in informality. Tacit knowledge has always been propagated through conversations, just as primitive people did in conversations around campfires. So it can be today too. It's a possibility. In addition to formal programs, conversations after work, during trips, etc. The important thing is to know who you talk to and why he/she can be your mentor.

Don't get too caught up in labels. You can gain mentorship through various sources, but in any case, recognise that—like any relationship—mentorship is a two-way street. Work on creating a symbiotic relationship where shared knowledge and experiences lead to collective growth.
