When my close mentor in HE retired, he thoughtfully planned for the transition. He reflected on career accomplishments and considered future goals and interests. He networked with colleagues and explored opportunities for mentorship or part-time teaching roles. He took advantage of retirement planning resources and sought financial advice to ensure financial security.He continues to embrace lifelong learning by pursuing personal interests & professional development activities. Additionally, he prioritized health and well-being during the transition and maintain connections with the academic community. Ultimately, he is an example of new beginnings and fulfillment in various endeavors. Really INSPIREMENT has begun & continues for my mentor.

Going from being super important and relevant from one day to being "the former person" is hard on the ego and hard on your well-being. Prepare well, let go (emotionally) as early as possible and find new projects and challenges. Maybe you can also devote your time to free research without the instiutional challenges?

Considero importante que una vez que se jubile el docente se encuentre activo realizando alguna actividad relacionada como tutorías o alguna actividad que lo haga hacer todavía productivo, para seguir aprendiendo nuevas habilidades o simplemente sea un pasatiempo, ya que en esta vida, independientemente del sector económico al que se dedique o pasatiempo, siempre es bueno poder seguir aportando o contribuyendo con conocimientos y el mayor resultado que siga siendo la satisfacción personal.

Creo que es muy importante que se reconozca el esfuerzo logrado en el ámbito educativo al docente (fruto de su árdua labor y preparación duarnte el tiempo que prestó sus servicios) y que todo en esta vida tiene un ciclo inicio y un cierre (término de la etapa del proceso de prestación de servicios). Las aportaciones y ense?anzas que son remuneradas, tienden a rendir frutos, con el objetivo de formar personas productivas que agregan un valor importante a la sociedad.
