For effective leadership, networking is a factor that should never be skipped. I can not stress enough how important networking becomes for people in a managerial position or decision making role. Networking can also be done in two ways: within industry, ie, amongst other people from writing field or across industry as well. This gives you more options networking both ways. When leading a team, networking also provides you with an opportunity to optimise, since you can observe other people’s work and take away the positive aspects and use those yourself. If you require new workforce(this can be done for various reasons) this also helps you with a lot of options availability.

I have never landed a job through a formal application process, however i have successfully sustained my career through part taking in various networks of friends and like minded, who share a common goal to invent and produce inspiring and relevant things for the world to see. Nothing compares to the feeling of succeding on a project, together with a friend.

The best part about writing is experience can be gained on the creator’s own time. Every lived-in experience can be channeled into an eloquent expression of the moment. Any mundane task (cataloguing information, crafting emails) can be livened up with active and interesting writing. Any chance a writer is given to produce anything at all should be seized as a chance to hone (and show off) their skills.

Every leader has to gain some work prior to stepping into the role, but how do you do that? You can gain experience by volunteering. Leadership isn’t a field-specific quality, it can be learned and nurtured through other forms of work as well. And if you’re not getting favourable performance or results, you will have to change either your methods, your resources or your team members. Therefore it is very important for a person looking to get into leadership roles that they learn to embrace changes. It is never a priority, since anyone would want a solid team that works for them and brings results, but if things don’t work out, they should be “ready” to replace people, or even an entire team.

Embracing change is the key here. I have had this opportunity twice in my career and passed both times because it required me to spend less time writing and more time managing. The reality is leading writers isn't the same is writing. It can be just as rewarding, but you need to decide that you want to shift your focus, adopt a new set of goals, and start prioritizing a new skill set.

In my leadership journey, I've learned to not just accept change but to wholeheartedly embrace and skillfully adapt to it. Furthermore, possessing a credible and extensive portfolio is essential before guiding other aspiring writers.

Without worrying about what stage of career you are, bear in mind that your career path might be slightly different from standard. Each one of us does not get an equal chance to step up and move ahead in the career. We might come from different educational backgrounds which affect the career we are in. While my peers suggested that I shift from content writing to business analysis in order to earn more, my interest lies in writing. I subsequently learned academic, technical, creative writing, blog writing, PR writing, seo based on writing, video content, podcast writing, social media posts, in addition to repurposing content, tracking KPI's, optimizing content, infographics, and focussing on quality instead of quantity.
