What do you do if you're feeling overwhelmed by work demands in the Mobile Communications industry?

1. Prioritize Tasks: List and rank tasks by importance, focusing on high-impact items first. 2. Set Clear Goals: Break projects into smaller, manageable tasks with specific deadlines. 3. Delegate: Assign tasks where possible and provide clear instructions. 4. Manage Time: Use a planner or calendar to schedule tasks and avoid multitasking. 5. Seek Support: Communicate with your manager or team for additional resources or adjustments. 6. Practice Self-Care: Take regular breaks and ensure a healthy work-life balance. 7. Review and Adjust: Regularly evaluate your progress and adjust strategies as needed.

Priority should be aligned with the organisation goal and mission. The rule of delegation should be made clear because it may mean that if there is any issue that results from poor delegation we may take the responsibility. Training, coaching, shadowing, mentoring and supervision are crucial in delegation.

I try to delegate tasks to others when I can, giving clear instructions and the right tools to get the job done. At the same time, I stay flexible and adjust my approach if something isn’t working, I am always looking for better ways to get things done to ease up on the workload.

When one sets boundary, don't reduce your standard even to your best friends. Setting boundary should be done with discipline. If it is your day off, let is be a day off, don't compromise it. However, except in emergencies and case of exceptions that demands human reasoning then things may have to re-adjusted. This should be made clear and communicated properly why it is so.

When reaching out for help it can also help you to rationalise your workload and help you understand where the priorities should be and where you can delegate the tasks too. A problem shared is a problem halved!

Look for someone to speak to, it is therapeutic. Make friends with someone who can listen to you and don't judge you. Someone who accepts you as you are.

It may be quite crippling to feel overburdened, particularly when managing multiple obligations in the mobile communication industry. Numerous Tasks can cause you to feel constantly burdened. Don't sit for long, get up and share with colleagues. Laugh it out and try and have some sense of humour. Play games, have walk and have some break. Drop the phone and close your eyes of some time. Take a shower and drink water often.

Keeping track of tasks visually helps manage workload more effectively. In a mobile communication infrastructure project, I used JIRA to map out each task, assign responsibilities, and set deadlines. This not only gave the team a clear view of their roles but also allowed me to monitor progress at a glance, identifying potential bottlenecks early. By breaking down the entire project into smaller, manageable tasks, we could distribute work evenly and adjust timelines as necessary. Workflow management tools help reduce mental clutter by providing a clear visual representation of the project’s status, making it easier to manage complex demands.

There are many easier ways to get work done these days. Search for them, learn them and use them, they will save your time and make your works easier. Don't get stuck with old ways, learn a new skill that can benefit you in your department. Get updated!
