In my opinion the job strategy is the most important part here. Whether we are data engineers, programmer, testers etc. we are all IT people and therefore have at least some cybersecurity background. There's only that much theoretical studying we can do, most of the learning is by doing. So it really is mostly about selecting the right job and as mentioned previously, highlighting where the data engineering background comes in handy.
