What do you do if you're asked about your experience with regression analysis in a statistical interview?

I like the sentiment expressed by the other recommendations. But, when a person asks you about regression analysis they don't want a lecture of regression analysis. Rather, they want you to show or tell them you have mastery of these methods. My recommendation is that you explain what methods you are familiar with (OLS, Logistic, Multilevel) and then wait for their follow-up. You should have an example of each ready in case they ask you for more details. Be ready to make a distinction between cross-sectional, longitudinal and other types of analysis (i.e. causal, correlation). I doubt they will be interested in theory, if you are being hired to analyze data - you will need to show you understand how to use these tools when facing a project.

Your ability to describe your knowledge of regression analysis could be a crucial turning point in an interview, but don’t give an academic summary of the topic. An interviewer wants a concrete example of how you have used regression analysis to see that you are able to make sense of real data. When conducting mock interviews I always recommend following the STAR interview method: provide background on the problem and what your role was, discuss why you chose your analysis method and model, give an overview of the regression results and how these results influenced your conclusions, explain how this work benefited your team.

The interviewer will get a clear image if you have a clear comprehension of the problem and the theory behind what you are attempting to detect or forecast. Explaining your reasoning for selecting that particular regression model will be the cherry on top.
