What do you do if you're asked to talk about yourself in an interview?

During interviews, when asked about myself, I provide a brief overview of my professional background, focusing on relevant experiences and skills. I highlight key achievements, using specific examples to showcase my capabilities and results. Expressing my passion for the work and alignment with the company's mission, I outline my career goals and express eagerness to contribute meaningfully to the organization. Overall, I maintain professionalism, confidence, and gratitude for the opportunity to interview.

One approach I have used to answer the question of “Tell us about yourself” during interviews is the S.E.A.T formula. I first talk about my Skills and qualities (S), followed by my Experience and or Educational qualifications (E), then Achievements in my previous and current job (A) relevant to the post interviewing for, and the Type of person I am and would be in the role I am interviewing for (T). This has been helpful and always does the trick for me. It keeps me focused and consistent in talking about myself. It however, requires constant practice so that you can be coherent in your answers.

I will first talk about my academic qualifications and acquired skills, and how they have influenced my chosen career. Then I will talk about my different job experiences and how impactful I have been with these experiences- stating both the achievements and challenges. I will also talk about how my qualifications, skills/ expertise with my experiences can enhance my productivity in the new role.

When asked to talk about yourself in an interview, focus on relevant experiences and skills. Highlight achievements that demonstrate your suitability for the role. Keep your response concise and tailored to the position. Avoid irrelevant personal details and maintain professionalism.

When you go for a job interview, it is important to present yourself not only as a skilled professional, but also as a potential colleague. You should focus on discussing your potential and how the company will benefit from hiring you. Additionally, you should talk about how you will contribute to the goals and success of the team. Nowadays, companies are looking for individuals who can bring growth, development, and positive relationships to the table.

Structuring conversations and particularly interviews are needed. It would be unwise, if not prepared before an interview and walk-in with overconfidence. Understanding the company's/organization's niche is very important, accordingly structuring the START with expected knowledge and skills to align with the profile applied for. STOP amplifying your skills, knowledge, and experiences unless you are not a match as per the job description, and CONTINUE talking in line about how you can be a learner and collaborator in terms of contributing towards the expected role. Making it a visualizing experience for the employer to look at you with possibilities.

Keep your response concise and relevant. Avoid going into unnecessary details or sharing personal information that is not related to the job. But, still convey your enthusiasm for the job and company. Talk about why you are interested in the position and how your skills and experiences make you a good fit for the role.

Here's a powerful framework to follow: The Present: Start by introducing yourself and your current role. Briefly highlight any recent accomplishments that showcase your skills. The Future: Conclude by looking ahead. Discuss your career aspirations and how this specific opportunity aligns with your long-term goals.

Maintain a structure in which direction it is going on follow this "explain your past achievements and what are future goals are and what are you doing present right now about future"

Remember, the "Tell me about yourself" question is not an invitation to tell your entire life story. Instead, it's an opportunity to craft a compelling story that showcases the best of who you are and what you have to offer.

Speak only what is needed for the job role!!! too much information makes a person confuse also about you. you self miss what you want to convey.

It's important to talk about and show the interviewer who you are, however know your audience and keep the information relevant and useful to the company!

Talk about your professional background, highlight your achievements, and mention any relevant qualifications or certifications. Don't forget to mention your passions and interests outside of work too! It helps the interviewer get to know you better.

From the very start, your goal should be to engage your interviewer and pique their interest. Begin with a compelling hook—a brief anecdote, a thought-provoking question, or a powerful statement that draws them in. This opening should be carefully crafted to capture their attention and create a desire to learn more about you. Remember, first impressions are formed within seconds, so make those initial moments count.

If a person is speaking you yourself will not listen to them right full. It is also your job to make them speak and interact.

Additionally, I emphasize my passion for continuous learning and problem-solving, highlighting specific instances where I've overcome challenges and contributed to team success. Overall, I believe it's important to present a well-rounded picture of myself that demonstrates both my professional expertise and personal qualities.

All of the above are good ways to present yourself. Something I considered important is to show your true you, your resume speaks for your knowledge and degrees and experiences, but being yourself in the interview, expressing as you are, will be the best presentation letter.
