What do you do if your writing lacks voice and tone despite feedback?

Develop an ear for the elements you're looking for in the work of others. When you encounter a passage that resonates with you, pause and consider what makes that writing effective. Is it word choice, sentence structure, the rhythm and pacing of prose? Similarly, when you receive feedback on your own writing, don't focus on what's not working — listen for clues about what is. If a particular section or phrase garners praise, examine it closely to understand why it stands out. I used to read all my work aloud, paying close attention to how the words felt in my mouth and sounded to my ears. Engaging multiple senses and really listening to the language made it easier to recognize some patterns and tendencies I had previously overlooked.

Writing is something we can edit. Write as you're talking to a friend, then edit and format to fit better as a post or an article. There's no better way to understand your personality than recognizing how you speak. When I'm writing, I commit mistakes intentionaly, because it is the way I speak, and it's easier to understand. (I'm sure you don't write the way you speak, nobody does haha). If you want a more professional or formal voice, create it. You'll never find a voice, you're going to create one. Keep the elements you like and collect feedback from the people who read your stuff to understand how they're perceiving your voice. The best feedback I got was “I read your post and I thought you were talking to me 1:1”

Although you might have been given feedback before, you should seek honest feedback. This is because the previous feedback might not have been the right one. You should try to get feedback from people whom you trust like your mentor or senior. This is because these are the people who knows your works the best. You should also join writing groups. This is because since these are people who don't know you, so they would just be honest with you.

If your writing lacks voice and tone, you would need to practice relentlessly. This is so that you can improve yourself. You need to practice writing even if you are not writing it for any purpose. It's just to get some practice. You could get feedback about your practice writing from your seniors or mentors. This is so that you can improve on your writing.

Don't be afraid to let your voice evolve. As you grow and change as a person, your perspective and style will naturally evolve. Trust the process and keep writing. The more you engage with language, reflecting on your experiences and perspectives while seeking out and learning from others, the more confident and distinctive your own voice will become.
