What do you do if your superiors or board members are causing conflicts?

No issue is minor issue at workplace. Whenever an issue occurs, bring that issue in your team and lead’s knowledge. Leaving the issues unaddressed creates accountability issues and conflicts. Following are the key points which could help in this regard: - Bringing up the issues in management’s notice immediately. - Try to figure out the root cause(s) of the problem and make a small summary of points such as: 1. Have this issue occurred before If yes, How you resolved the issue before ? 2. Business impact or number of clients affected (approx) 3. Is this a human error or machine 4. How much time required to resolve the issue? - Don’t jump to solution right away unless you know the root cause otherwise the problem will bug you again

If superiors or board members are causing conflicts: Address concerns diplomatically. Seek to understand their perspective. Offer constructive solutions. Collaborate to find resolution. Involve HR if needed for mediation.

First consult with your colleagues to make sure it's not a subjective issue. if it's objective, then come to a conclusion with colleagues as to what and who will open a discussion. Just don't fall into the elephant in the living room situation which can cause bad situations to fester even more.

Communicate effectively with the party involved to express your concerns and to understand their expectation leading to the conflict. Clear understanding from both parties is imperative and advancing with the resolution. Subject to communication and understanding proper channels i.e negotiation or mediation to be considered in addressing the conflict.

Conflict situations caused by seniors are often rooted in the alignment of opinions, goals, or systemic issues. The issues must be seen both at an individual level and with the impact that they cause on the organization because often it is not understood, especially by the leadership team what consequences their actions have.

Don't forget that higher ups are also people, with feelings, views, needs and pressures. Try to understand where they sit and why they are acting they way they are. This means you need to suspend your views and interpretations for a moment (and be aware of them firstly!). Identify what bothers them or what pressures they have, how they need to build business or progress the mission forward, or perhaps they have limitations that are pressing them to do what they are doing. What is most useful is to not engage in a right/wrong kind of a dynamic- this is endless, exhausting, and not very productive. Instead, consider that there is a dilemma to be solved, something you hold together, an issue to find a solution to.

In my experience, getting on the “same side” of the table first requires you to focus on the other person. You need to get curious and approach the conversation with the mentality that they too want to best outcome for all involved. Curiosity will help you understand exactly what they’re trying to convey, and then you can help them see a way forward that is best for them, their client, their team, etc. If you look for the resolution that aligns with what they care about AND the best thing for whoever you serve, that’s the quickest way to success.

Conflicts is nothing but a race to put forward their own ideologies to work. When it comes to supervisors who cause the conflict that seems they have an ulterior motive. At times it becomes really hard to stand against the current and oppose them. There had been one thing for sure that is either way one ought to pay the price. If they are going against the ideologies then they might lose in their position or just resign but if they are with the supervisor's say then they get to stay but lose their opinions on the way. At times the big picture or the organizational goals are missed in these conflicts but when the decision making is in he supervisor's hands its ok to follow the lead and learn from these actions.
