What do you do if your IT Strategy project faces conflicts over resource allocation?

This is a frequent situation if initial requirements are not clear. It's then time to do a more comprehensive assessment of what is really needed. Often initial requirements are too general and when it's time to deploy, new things come up. You now need to prioritise after a careful review of what's needed.

The resource allocation issue can be solved by engaging with stakeholders. Resources have only so much capacity so talking to stakeholders and looking at the priorities will help. Communication would be a key here. Explain to stakeholders the benefits of the project and also the impact of delays if resources are not allocated in time. Negotiation skills will also help. Maybe move around things a little to suit their availability where possible without impacting the overall timeline. eg finance resources will be stretched during month end. Some flexibility from your side will go a long way in getting them to collaborate. Getting stakeholders to collaborate is a pretty good skill to have :)
