Usually over time, when the stability of the software keeps getting questionable during the release time, it gets more and more obvious that the software testing network is not efficient and needs strengthening. As soon as it is known the first step is to conduct a comprehensive review to assess the key areas where the issues are consistently observed. These might include bottlenecks, recurring test failures, undertested areas of the software application. It also involves assessing what kind of test is being implemented and how updated are the tests, for instance, the type of the applied tests might not be enough for covering the critical aspects of the software applications. This assessment helps us point specific areas for improvement.

At a previous workplace, my employer used a Java based software engine to create web based processes. We were using Agile, so a lot of Regression Testing was being done. I realised that the setup was ideal for Test Automation. After some research, I concluded Selenium was the best option and started a pilot project to introduce it.
