Servant leadership is a mindset and an embodiment practice where the "WHO" you are is someone empowering others to be their best selves. By cultivating empathy, actively listening and understanding them, their perspective, needs and feelings it allows you to connect on a deeper level and therefore serve more deeply. At its essence, its about leading from the heart and by example. Living and leading with integrity and alignment to what matters with commitment. Servant leaders can't help themselves from serving and its critical they gift themselves what they need as well so they can show up and serve. By cultivating trust, working with others while being patient, persistent and supportive along the way the world will change!

Acknowledging the time, distance or changes that may have lended itself to the disconnect (without blame or judgement for either party) is a great way to begin and lean into curiosity about what may be happening for them. In my experience, its important to understand the motivations at play as well and once there is awareness to what those are, reach out and offer to connect. A practice I have is when I think of someone, if its within my power I let them know that by sending a quick voice note, text or in some cases even a personalized card in the mail which I absolutely love to give and receive :) When the head, heart and hands are aligned connection regardless how long its been can be pure magic!

In my opinion, providing value in this context can be as simple and as profound as witnessing the other person. Truly seeing, hearing and acknowledging them as a leader, a contributor, as a conscious creator is such a priceless gift. The way to put others first, is to do just that and let the 'reputation' take care of itself. If the reputation is the motivation the connection won't be as rich as it could be.
