Quality is not rocket science, it’s understanding how to design the best product, with the necessary systems in place to address potential and inevitable deviations…

In my experience the first thing to assess communication is to have an understanding of the needs of all stakeholders in your project and develop a RACI chart ( Responsibility, Accountability, Communicated and Informed). Once you have a good under of this you can then proceed and select the appropriate technology solution. Ideally the solution should be one where you can set the RACI attributes to enable appropriate messaging to the stakeholders.

The assessment of the needs is crucial but it needs to consider what is being communicated, the audience and the context of the information. Tools often give clinical detail, but are not always good at reading between the lines and telling the organisation what the real risk profile is. As a simple example, a defect management tool will tell you what doesn't work and can be setup to say whether a workaround enables an organisation to progress. However, the culmination of that workaround along with others, and coupled with the frequency may present a picture that is not palatable. In short, that initial assessment must include all of the softer more nebulous areas of comms so that whatever gaps still exist are addressed in other ways.

I always ear about the need of improvement in process, safety, machines and tools but communication improvement is not seen in the industry as an important point(my personal experience) The reality show us that communication has a enormous impact in correction, prevention and develope of production process therefore has to be the most rapidly and efficient using the latest technology avances it will make a higher efficient and stronger team and therefore a highly competitive company.
