Disagreements and conflicts are a healthy part of any project execution, make sure to have full visibility and understanding of the situation, then proceed to access with an unbiased viewpoint.

If a project fails there are mutliple things one can do but most important is to do the root cause analysis. Find out what triggered the failure? Is it a design failure or resource crunch or poor implementation and post implementation monitoring and reporting or is it due to lack of technically qualified professionals or is it the technology used that failed? Once we do the rootcause analysis, we need to prepare a Corrective Action Plan and go about closing each of those gaps and reattempt. So through a process of planned gap closure, one is bound to succeed.

Comme dans n’importe quelle sphère il ne faut surtout pas répéter nos erreurs. ?a para?t facile mais on peut aussi se tromper sur la cause. Il faut donc impliquer notre équipe et ne pas hésiter à faire appel à une ressource en amelioration continue. Ces gens là ont souvent des outils de recherche des causes fondamentales tres performants et sont complètement externe à notre projet et meme externe de notre champs de compétence. Si on trouve la bonne cause fondamentale, on doit la mettre en avant plan du projet suivant pour ne pas la répéter.

I refer to this as Lessons Learned, and should be done on every project regardless if the project failed or not. Host the discussion meeting with your project team, not to point fingers or rehash negatively what happened but to discuss what could have been avoided and how. Make sure every teammate gives feedback. Make sure the tone of this meeting is a positive opportunity to gain the knowledge to ensure the same mistakes are not made on future projects. I supported a Team Lead back in the early stages of my career, who would ask each team member to be prepared to discuss a lesson learned so everyone contributed and no one was put on the spot. They were successful lessons learned meetings and I do this as a Project Manager today.

It is mandatory to identify what went wrong or there may be a possibility that team has tried everything to set right the project but a change in approach towards the milestone can lead to drastic changes rather than sticking to traditional approach of executing contracts. The change in approach can be brainstormed with your networks, your managers and colleagues. This worked for me as well.

One thing I have found helpful , if we want to keep getting better at the activities and deepen the relationships we value most , we must be willing to confront and learn from our mistakes.

An example I have seen to be effective is the ability to maintain a stoic positive attitude and mindset when it's obvious that the project is not as successful as you planned. Maintaining positiveness allows constructive forward planning on taking the lessons learnt on project design, implementation plans and monitoring of its progress. Taking these on board will set the benchmarks for what not to do in order for the next project to be successful.

Project cannot fail if it is properly planned, monitored and timely corrective actions are taken. You cannot sleep over the project and allow it to reach that stage.
