I would add that besides skill in your technology stack, you need to have an architecture that enables problem-solving in a comprehensive manner (see SRE). At a high-level, problem solving strategies should NOT change with technology changes. Problems are identified, causes are eliminated or highlighted and the needed changes (or regressions) are moved through the environment. Even if automated, the specific tools and skills to work with a new architecture are key considerations when proposing architecture changes. The "new" solution that leaves your team lacking is incomplete. Examples are: - Dev-Test systems that don't work like Prod - Components that do not log System Reliability Engineering events (like slow performance or failures)
