Your KPI should be comprehensive and evaluate the performance that is within the employee control. In case an institution focuses on those KPI s that the employee cannot control, and they are being punished for that, is wrong. E.g., academic progress of students, their feedback of teaching, lecture content, appropriate examples from industry, tasks that help to develop professional competencies - all of these are the responsibility of a lecturer. However, submission percentages, % of academic misconduct in your group in your students’ submissions, student withdrawals especially as a result of failure in the previous module/course are outside the lecture’s domain, cannot be controlled and therefore, are wrong.
