What do you do if your niche as a motivational speaker is difficult to identify?

Why do I do the hard uncomfortable work of being vulnerable onstage? Because my brother passed away from addictions in 2017 and my core value of honesty has become very strong as a result. Facing hard truths with self-compassion makes our lives and the lives of those around us better. It’s important to have a fire in your belly for change. There has to be a strong WHY. Why share your story? Why should we listen? If you don’t genuinely want to make the lives of others better in some way, speaking isn’t a great fit. At the same time, I personally bring as much humility as possible to my keynote these days and simply offer my stories and insights as my own experience. Perhaps my perspective will be helpful to the audience in some way.

One of the next questions in this series is “know your audience”, but if your niche is hard to define, your audience (specifically your previous audiences) hold the answers to this question. Find those who benefited from your previous deliveries, as well as those who complimented you… and ask them to help define your Why. The simple concept of reciprocation says that they will remember how you helped them or what they liked, and they will be willing to tell you.

When faced with difficulty identifying a niche as a motivational speaker, I focus on introspection and audience feedback. I reflect on my unique experiences, expertise, and passions to define a niche that resonates with me. Additionally, I actively engage with diverse audiences to gauge their interests and needs, allowing me to tailor my message accordingly. Embracing flexibility and experimentation, I continuously refine my approach until I discover the niche where I can make the most significant impact.

I believe that one of the most important advantages that a motivational speaker can rely on is his ability to expose the target audience to themselves and make them realize that they can master a skill that they thought they could not reach or achieve based on their complete belief that this matter is not related to them in any way, and that there is someone who has priority or deserves it. This confirms the credibility of the speaker, his ability, and the depth of the experience he went through.

??Knowing your audience from the steps, the more you know your audience and know their needs , problems , fears, all this makes it easier for you to do your job and realize what is required of you and how you can provide it.

Como en cualquier tarea hay que hacer previamente los deberes. Si hablamos de nuestra audiencia, es importantísimo conocer con antelación a quien nos dirigimos para poder calibrar el tipo de mensaje, el enfoque . También es importante conseguir dinamismo y participación por parte de nuestra audiencia para que nuestro mensaje llegue y emocione. Recordemos que la gente podrá olvidar lo que decimos o lo que hacemos pero nunca olvida lo que le hacemos sentir.

Again, I find this is old marketing guidance. It's not about knowing your audience, it's about knowing your story and what you want to communicate. If it's from the heart then the intellectual "know your audience" doesn't come into it. The audience will find you rather than you seeking the audience. Authenticity comes from being you wholly and all your quirkiness, individuality and unique perspective. That then becomes a magnet vibrationally to the right audience for you. If you approach it intellectually, you will be slightly off vibrationally. It's pure physics.

Si quieres dar conferencias en empresas, universidades, fundaciones, etc y no vas a vender entradas una a una para tus conferencias, tu audiencia será muy diversa. Debes diferenciar entre la persona que te contrata y el colectivo que te va a escuchar. Tu mensaje en RRSS y medios debe dirigirse a la persona que te contrata y a la vez encajar con lo que ella busca para los suyos. Habla desde tu propia experiencia y se auténtico. Si lo tuyo es la motivación y no la comercialización, ponte en manos de una buena agencia de conferenciantes. Si además quieres mejorar, fórmate en una “Escuela de conferenciantes”.

Ask for specific examples of when your skills or qualities made a positive impact on them. Make a list of the skills and competencies that you possess relevant to motivational speaking, such as public speaking, storytelling, coaching, or leadership. Evaluate your proficiency level in each skill and identify areas where you excel.

??Knowing your strengths as a motivational speaker is one of the most important points, everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but the wise person is the one who knows how to shed light and shine his strengths by showing them and working on them and creating a point of Distinction and difference from them , as a motivational speaker when you succeed in doing this with yourself brilliantly, that guarantees you that you will succeed in this with your audience

I feel it's got to come naturally - what are you good at and what do you LIKE to talk about or help others with. If there's a popular topic, and you really want to jump on that bandwagon and speak about it, then at least make it your particular angle and skill. All the leadership keynotes i have - from change, to resiliency and communications - have a humor twist in them.

Leaning into your strengths is the most important thing you can do. There is so much value in becoming an expert on 1 thing vs being good at many things. Do you have a story to tell? Can the lessons learned, benefit anyone? Perfect! YOU can be a speaker! Start small. Practice your gift when impromptu moments arise with family or in a group of friends. Situations at work or church could also create the environment for you to deliver a word that may help someone. Whatever your platform, small or big, take advantage of the opportunities that come your way and put the 10,000 hours in. You've got this!

We can know our niche only once we truly know ourselves , if you want to motivate others by being a motivation speaker then first motivate yourself by truly understanding your own self

??Each competitor has strategies and style, but in order to be the best, you need to be outstanding, skillful and incomparable to anyone. Be yourself , be present, perform with high abilities and passion , passion is the key to every continuous success.

Im of the opnion that motivational speaking is the space where there's too much competition. Just now anybody and everybody seems to be a motivational speaker. There's teens talking about motivation, there's monks, theres trsiners coaches and many more. Knowing who is yoyr direct competition helps you create a personal brand a You who can be positioned accordingly.

A mi no me gusta llamarles competidores, son compa?eros de profesión con más o menos calidad, pero son compa?eros y hay que ser siempre muy respetuoso con ellos. La importancia en este caso es ser diferente, dejar claro cual es nuestro ADN. A menudo nuestro mensaje puede ser idéntico a los de otros oradores lo importante es que el mensaje se transmita con nuestra propia personalidad, eso es lo que nos hará diferente.

The public speaking space is a broad one, knowing your competitors in your particular niche helps you identify your unique value proposition and helps you improve on them. Figure out your competitors weaknesses and actively channel it to your strength. It is also important to be self-aware while doing this, as it is easy to copy others.

Competitors aren't enemies. Each speaker has a difference approach and by working together you can create greater change. If you're in the business to help people, network and partner up to share audiences.

????As a motivational speaker, I think that you should first have the property of being proactive in the sense that you start looking for what your audience needs, because there are some people who don't know what they need, or what they are missing, when you do that, you will have created a different brand for yourself, by knowing the kind of topics that touch the heart of your audience, and having your own imprint and your own way, a motivational speaker, not just beautiful and flowery sentences, but important topics, real performances, stories from your life that arouse them to believe that they can too, whatever you are close to them the more effective and successful your work .

Never copy paste others Keep your self identity and a unique Ness in place while you can adapt to speakers who are well established and sought after Small talks with anecdotes can also make a very good impact provided your content is worth the time. At time personal grooming and style statements also add value to what you speak to motivate others Sing or act if not a dance move in the presentation can also draw and keep your audience active n interested.

As a motivational speaker. Be Unique. Be Yourself. Be Authentic. Doing that makes your message relatable, and once that happens your audience will be impacted by your message.
