I learned this lesson early in my career: "if you don't blow your trumpet, someone will use it as a spittoon." And so, when your networking strategies are not working, introspect whether you are blowing your trumpet enough. As an extension, where are you playing your trumpet? Is the audience willing and able to pay for your services? Or are you playing at a fancy restaurant where people are enjoying their meals, and your music plays in the background? Lastly, is your music soothing to the audience's ears? Do they like what you're playing? In summary three things: 1. Are you talking enough? 2. Are you talking to the right people? 3.
