What do you do if your motivation wanes during your Manufacturing Operations continuing education journey?

As rapidly as the business world is changing with new technologies, labor shortages, geopolitical concerns and economic stress, goals must evolve with the changes. The assumptions that were used to establish last year's goals have most likely changed, so our goals must change as well. The challenge with motivation is ensuring the organization understands this evolution is required. We must continuously look at "what's next?"

When motivation starts to lag, revisit the reasons that initially inspired you to pursue this educational path. As the famous quote by Friedrich Nietzsche reminds us, "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." Reconnecting with your "why" can reignite your passion and drive, propelling you forward on your journey. By reassessing your goals, aligning them with your values, setting SMART objectives, seeking inspiration from others, embracing a growth mindset, celebrating small wins, and revisiting your "why," you can effectively reignite your motivation and stay committed to your manufacturing operations continuing education journey.

In my opinion when it comes to the motivation there are sources which gives you motivation. 1. Spend time with Family/Friends 2. Look for your Passion 3. Generate source of Money 4. Learn new aspects 5. Explore challenges 6. Take Responsibilities 7. Perform your Duties to keep your tomorrow better. 8. Look towards Your Needs/Dreams 9. Help human being and treat them with empathy 10. Believe in the supreme power (god), he is driving this for a purpose only to make you and your tomorrow better. If any of these kicks you do better, and keep yourself on the path of approach to do right. Keep yourself going. Look what is in your control (your emotions/actions etc.) - control it. See what is not in your control (Your situations/ time etc.)

Sometimes KPI′s shows always green bars, or objectives already achived, that is one way to detect we need to reassess goals, and make us question if we need to get a new goal to seek, or if we need to increase the target, some other times also let us know if the goal that was set, is truly giving us the results expected, and if the goal is integrative and collaborative within all areas, KPI′s also make us question if mission and vision are aligned to the goals set, or being set for all areas, so I truly do believe that KPI′s are a living goal monitor, that help us getting in the correct direction.

Seeking support is an excellent strategy for maintaining motivation during your manufacturing operations continuing education journey. Here's how you can do it - 1- Join a Community 2- Find a Mentor 3- Enlist the Help of Colleagues 4- Utilize Resources 5- Seek Professional Help Remember, asking for assistance is not a sign of weakness, but rather a proactive step toward ensuring your success and well-being during your continuing education journey.

Seek Support when motivation dips, when you find yourself in the comfort zone, when you feel overwhelmed, "look around", there is always someone near you that may have an advise, or can share an story, sometimes coaches or mentors are found in our professional path and helps increasing your expertise, knowledge, and help you reestablishing your motivation. Do not stop seeking support, or comparing ideas with your peers, this will always help you to increase your sight scope, perhaps your motivation was dipping because you were not able to see something someone else was.

I imagine a future where artificial intelligence provides personalized support in real time. With virtual assistance systems offering guidance and recommendations based on data analysis, we can overcome specific challenges we face during our continuing education.

Change Pace, If you're feeling overwhelmed...I can refer the book "atomic habits" from writter James Clear, well-directed and consistent atomic actions can lead to a big bang, try also to organize better your activities, try to balance in the best way posible your daily tasks, no one is expecting you to conquer the world in record time, and just make sure you are enjoying everything you do.

I envision a future where we can better manage our time and resources with the help of AI. By using systems that monitor our level of fatigue and stress, and analyze work patterns, we can suggest optimal times to rest and recharge, ensuring we can maintain a sustainable pace.

Variety is the spice of learning. When we explore different approaches, we stimulate our minds, keep things fresh, and prevent monotony. Get back to the basics, when you were a kid you learned from all of your senses, try to find other ways to learn the topics you want, identifying your sensory modality (VARK - Visual, Aural, Read, Kinesthetic), be also creative, this sensory modalities can be mixed for your learining delight.

I visualize a future where artificial intelligence suggests new learning approaches and personalized resources. Using machine learning algorithms, we can identify areas of interest and suggest courses, materials, or activities that are relevant and engaging to keep us committed and motivated.

When you start thinking in something to achive, to obtain, to earn, your mind is so powerful that compiles all your knowledge and experience, to give you almost inmediatly the path you need to seek to get it, once you have the recipee and the ingridients the hard thing is to start, to beging. Do not stop visualizing your goal, but put all your energy in the willpower, John Legend already said it in his song "Save room", ..."Dont be afraid of a little bit of pain, pleasure is on the other side" ;).

If you don’t know where you are going, you will never get there… Always have a vision and strive for it. This is one of the key philosophies I work and live by.

I imagine a future where we can visualize success through simulation tools and predictive models provided by AI. These tools will help us see the positive impact of our future work, increasing our motivation and determination to achieve our goals.

Some people in manufacturing roles will get bored after a time. Manufacturing tends to be a process of ensuring steps are repeated over and over again. The team keeps the plant operational and there’s usually some element of management of change. But the normal mantra is to get good at repetitive tasks. People are different. Some will be comfortable in the role, ensuring the team get good at the repeat tasks. Others however will not flourish in that environment and will seek other tasks or roles to fulfill them. And you might not even realize which type you are. But you can find out by taking tests with a statistically valid performance management company such as Glowinkowski International.

This entirely depends on my KPI's: -customer satisfaction -internal/external KPI's -audits -financial goals -safety issues (SMS) -supplier performance -corrective actions -human factors -feedback

It depends on the reason for the lack of motivation. If frustrated because “ it just isn’t working.” Maybe take a break and look for a less complex task to rest your mind and recharge your energy. You may also find that you come up with different options, some generated by the task you are working on. Once you find the reason for the lack of motivation the previously identified recommendations can be applied.

If self-development motivation is diminishing, it's essential to reassess goals, explore new areas of interest, seek inspiration from diverse sources, connect with other professionals, seek guidance from mentors, try different learning methods, and take care of your physical and mental well-being. While experiencing periods of discouragement is normal, it's important to keep seeking new growth opportunities and adjusting strategies as needed to maintain motivation and progress in your career.
