I believe the best strategy is to ask a lot of questions to the students so they can think of the solutions themselves first before giving out the answers. In order to do that the teacher’s role in encouraging them to participate and share opinions are very important. Include a lot of activities which requires a lot of discussions between the students.

In my experience, empathy towards students can effectively address many learning challenges they may encounter. Challenges are unavoidable. But challenges also helps you grow and improve. So just be honest and explain the challenges that you have faced but also elaborate on the solutions that you have implemented.

In my teaching journey, I've encountered challenges while implementing student-centered learning. One notable instance was introducing inquiry-based learning to a diverse classroom. Success is the end-goal. But before we can get there, we must take small steps. So instead of measuring the final results, measure their progress occasionally. This can be done through various means like quizzes, assessments, even weekly check-ins by personally meeting the students. Keep a record of this to truly understand and impact your students and you can also improve on how to attend to the students better.

Demonstrate, dont tell. A persuasive approach would be to showcase past student initiatives, highlighting tools or methods used in class, how it shaped engagement, and any tangible outcomes resulting from it. If you have classroom models, canvas, pictures, they could be interesting too! You would want to leave the interviewer wanting more (almost with FOMO!). When you can demonstrate process and results (in print) it helps.

I adopt quiz for which answers are not direct. They need to think and justify. I often ask what students think of the topic or whether they can provide some real examples that affirm the objective of my topic. Also i ask many times if anyone wants to support or oppose any idea with proper justification In this way apart from direct assessment i measure their level of understanding in an indirect way

But personal things you do to benefit your students and classes can also be mentioned. I personally took up basic Chinese as most of my students were Chinese. And that has helped me immensely in my teaching.

As a former school administrator, I always asked interviewees about two main areas: classroom practice and collaboration. Schools want teachers with strong classroom practices but they are also looking for teachers who share and learn from each other. SCL is powerful but it is most effective when teachers from across disciplines work together to create this environment in their classrooms. Students then go from class to class and can expect the same level of engagement and community compared to just experiencing this in ELA or science.

My experience has been teaching the Visual Arts, and in that realm, student-centered learning is of utmost importance because the students will be creating art work that is reflective of them, their experiences and ideas. Art is an orginal product, not a reproduction of everyone else's ideas and images. An important artist named Arthur Dove encouraged this line of thought in both teaching and art making. There is going to be someone on this committee interviewing you who has an emotional attachment via "their" research on SCL. All you have to do is explain the basics on what you do in the classroom. Any method really can be called SCL the point is this: it is how you deliver it.
