What do you do if your intern in the Training field is not meeting expectations?

First, were expectation made clear to start? I have often come across situations whereby someone says a person did not meet expectations yet you ask the person if expectations were made clear, they say no. I call this a conflict of expectations. This is ok, work to clarify and then measure afterwards.

If your intern isn’t meeting expectations, make sure you’re giving them opportunities to ask questions or request support when needed. Find out if they fully understand the goals and objectives of each assignment and schedule short, informal check-ins without micromanaging. Discuss ideas connected to tools and resources that may help support their progress and consider letting them job shadow a team member that may be interested and able to assist when needed.

It's important to maintain open communication with your interns, consistently and frequently. Make sure to provide a safe space (you must know your team and what it means for each of them to feel safe) for your team to discuss whatever they need to in order to succeed. Allow them to share their wins & losses, their worries & their hopes. As a training manager, it's important that your team members, especially interns, feel safe and supported. Its also important to be honest, it's the foundation of good communication. Be upfront & transparent, keeping in mind to focus on the positive where you can. Acitvely listen from a place of acceptance & understanding, not to admonish or judge, so that you can advise in a way that they will understand.

Acredito que além disso é preciso definir avan?os, prazos e resultados. Ao invés de pensar na linha de chegada, considere as próximas etapas, considerando a correta contribui??o de um estagiário.

O monitoramento deve ser acompanhado de direcionamento. O estagiário tem finalidade diferente de um profissional já qualificado. Ele precisa ser melhor que ele mesmo, alinhado às expectativas do negócio.

Training an intern requires constant communication between both the sides. Identify their fallacies along with yours. Maybe the trainer him/her self isn't defining their roles clearly. Communication is the key.
