What do you do if your healthcare management team is not working effectively?

Identifying the root cause may be the first if not the major step to take in a situation where performance is noticed to be persistently sub-par. This would then determine the next line of actions to remedy the situation

This normallt stems from a system breakdown or morale issue. Assess the root causes: lack of communication, unclear roles, using outdated systems or inadequate training. Implement targeted solutions such as team-building exercises, clarifying responsibilities, and offering professional development opportunities. Streamline processes and foster a culture of accountability. Ultimately, prioritize open dialogue and continuous improvement for a more effective team.

So there may be more than one root cause? If there is a breakdown in team working, then being able to look at the bigger picture helps. Sometimes the root cause is driven by steps or actions that haven’t been communicated properly, so if that could be addressed and tackled appropriately, then steps can be taken to resolve it. Usually it’s also driven by a dynamic between colleagues where there is a lack of understanding between them so being able to understand those issues would also be helpful. Usually I’ve found bringing in an external lay person to resolve a miscommunication or issue between colleagues has been helpful, but it needs the colleagues in question to be open minded to having an discussion in the first place

Em um segundo momento seria interessante aplicar uma pesquisa de clima organizacional, desidentificada, com o objetivo de identificar a causa raiz desse comportamento.

After identifying the root cause, communication must be open and straightforward! People need to understand those findings and make a decision to work , as a team to fixing the problem.

To improve the effectiveness of an underperforming HCM team, first and foremost should be to identify and address the root causes through an open communication. Further, it should be alleviated by clearly defining the roles and goals of the team members. Guidance should be offered in terms of training and fostering collaboration. Recognizing good performance & celebrating small wins is always a morale booster for the members. Lastly, offering and making personnel changes, if required.
