In analyzing data it’s important to understand what it’s telling you. I mean that seems self evident but as we all know data can be manipulated, so if someone thinks the problem is such and such and they have solution A, it is often hard to get them to see that solution A isn’t addressing the problem the data is pointing to. We all have our own biases as well so removing bias from data analysis can be tricky as a lot of this data might be qualitative based on satisfaction. People may start to interpret why someone rated it unsatisfactory ( we have all seen it in employee surveys). Rationale such as bad time of year to have the survey, that department doesn’t like anything as they recently went through a lot of change. Etc.

I agree with this statement. I would add to also review program resources and support: evaluate the resources and support provided to mentors and mentees. This may include training materials, guidelines, communication channels, and access to additional resources. Evaluate whether the resources are comprehensive, accessible, and effective in supporting mentorship relationships, and that clearly defines objectives to help each person clearly understand what is needed of them.

First of all we should identify at what level the evaluation intended to operate – SIMPLE, LEARNING or HOLISTIC? Simple evaluation is typi?ed by the “chain-reaction” model –the evaluator identi?es the prompts for change and then attempts to connect these to their effects. It's summative in its approach. With learning evaluation the interest is still in cause & effect, but there's stronger focus on learning that happens in order to being about change. It seeks to balance summative & formative considerations. With holistic evaluation there is an acknowledgement that cause,effect and learning are all important, meanwhile there's a need to understand how the system impacts on the programme and vice versa.
