What do you do if your freelance workload as an administrative assistant becomes overwhelming?

When my freelance workload as an administrative assistant becomes overwhelming, I prioritize tasks by urgency, importance and time of completion. The importance of prioritizing tasks when the workload is high can not be overemphasised. I break down large projects into manageable steps and set realistic deadlines. Also, I compare time required to complete those tasks against one another. If the task wouldn't take me more than 5 min, I do it immediately. By focusing on high-impact tasks first and using time management techniques, I ensure I stay productive and maintain quality in my work.

I’ve found that many people we work for feel their task is a priority or emergency but it may not be. When I have a heavy task load and I feel overwhelmed, I take a minute to write down my tasks so that I can see them and my brain registers everything that I have to do. I then go back to the person who has assigned the task and ask when they absolutely have to have the product. And I’ll prioritize depending on who needs what first and if it’s an actual emergency or if it can wait after I’m done with something that truly is a priority.
