What do you do if your Facility Management (FM) feedback and evaluation system is met with resistance?

I feel that when introducing a new FM feedback and evaluation it is important to proactive steps to address concerns and facilitate smoother acceptance. It would be great to discuss the root causes of the resistance work on mitigating the fears and misconceptions. In my area we are discovering more on AI and we have some employees that are resistant to the changes because they feel that they will be replaced. We decided to form a small team to talk about how we could incorporate AI into our processes. We decided to do a presentation and showcase how AI can be a helpful tool. I think that sometimes employees resist because they are fearful of the effects of the change.

Put yourself in the other shoe. You have to understand the other perspective and lead the step to figure out the root causes. Usually introducing a new system or product to current employees will not be welcomed. People usually love comfort zone and resist learning and interfacing with new systems specially in new operations services.

Most often, stakeholders resist due to a lack of understanding, purpose and benefits. Major concerns are workload, accountability, & fear of negative consequences. Engaging with stakeholders to explain the purpose, benefits, & expectations of the feedback & evaluation system will be beneficial. Emphasizing how to improve FM services and outcomes also plays an important role. Communication is the key. Listen to stakeholder concerns and address them promptly. Explanations and evidence must be ready to support the system. This will give stakeholders confidence. The following can also be beneficial: 1. Involve stakeholders 2. Train and support stakeholders 3. Be transparent and fair with stakeholders 4. Always use data to demonstrate value

Before moving forward, put a clear communication plan in place and understand what kind of resistance you are facing. Using Change Management methodologies like ADKAR will help reducing resistance. Meeting and understanding key stakeholders position and inputs will be necessary and will help you choosing the right moment for implementing the change.

Clearly explain the goals of the FM response and assessment process and how it can benefit the organization and the individuals involved. Emphasize how this can improve efficiency, save costs, deliver better service and a more productive work environment.

Asset management is a huge change management exercise. There needs to be a lot of inclusion with all parties. This is to gain support from all parties and to understand everyones needs better. To support this you need to understand how there work will change and be able to easily explain how the this system will better support the organization as a whole to make better decisions.

From my experince Pilot the Program: Before a full rollout, consider implementing a pilot program with a small group or department. This can help identify potential issues and allow for adjustments before the system is implemented organization-wide. ?-Address Concerns Transparently: Address any feedback or concerns quickly and transparently. If changes need to be made to the system or the way it's implemented, make those changes and communicate them back to the team. ?-Showcase Success Stories: If there are early adopters or departments that have had positive experiences with the new system, highlight these cases as examples of success. This can help to build credibility and reduce resistance among others.
