On the company website, do research into the organization’s mission statement, values, goals, and achievements. Think of how your background aligns with the goals of the organization. What value could you offer to them to help them be successful? The idea is to show the hiring manager you took the time to familiarize yourself with the organization. Take initiative to be thorough in your research. It helps you prepare thoughtful questions heading into the interview.

If your interviewer seems cold, try to maintain a positive attitude and engage them by asking thoughtful questions about the role or the company. You can even ask them more about their professional background and experience. Maintain enthusiasm and confidence in your responses. Sometimes, a friendly demeanor and genuine interest can help warm up the interaction. If not, don’t take it personally. It might just be their personality or a bad day!
