I have frequently worked in crisis management, clear communication, honestly and recognition of the problem and designated tasks that are rewarded for performance are key. Crises by their nature provide fear and instability, your job is to be the foundation, people must trust you and must believe you have the power and ability to solve the problem and authority to take the steps necessary to do so. Once you have the above mandate, then you deputise people appropriately and triage the organisation through the lens of the crisis.

When it comes to crisis management, I tend to believe anyone in that situation will want to give out their best and solve the issue but there may be times people may be disengaged during a crisis. This may be due to various factors and to be able to change that and solve the crisis at hand, one must be able to identify and understand the causes of disenagement during crisis to be able to solve that issue so that everyone can be on board when dealing with the crisis

First of all, understanding disengagement during a crisis is something totally normal but it is the leader's work to understand what is going on.

The hardest part is turning passive employees into active employees. Since employees learn from their managers, it is important that as a team leader, you initiate the conversation, engage others in any way that suits your team culture, and above all, create a safe space for conversation, i.e. Employees should be sure that their words will be effective. And finally "listen to understand", No "listen to answer".
