You should be able to recall times when you experienced the following: 1) someone commented on how good your design is 2) something you designed worked very well and as you expected 3) you solved a problem that you and others could not at first see a solution to If you do not have such recollections, then you definitely need to improve your skills.

Make sure you are applying for jobs. You can't expect others to progress your career for you. Be it internally or externally, make a policy of regularly looking for other roles and applying for them. Just because you apply, does not mean you need to accept any job offer made to you. You only accept the ones that you can confirm are ideal. But in the process of applying for jobs, you get a better understanding of what employers want - that will help you progress.
