It's probably more important to audit where did those data exceptions originate from. What's allow the bad data into your platform as fixing the resulting data isn't useful if you are continuing to allow the bad data to flow into the system.

I think this statement has an implied architecture that is probably an anti-pattern. With more of a micro-service approach where a single system is the only place that talks to a given data store, then your standardization issues are limited to a single app and app team. If the platform is still more of a monolith where the DB structure itself is serving as the integration layer for multiple apps, then you are going to have a harder time with these issues due to the number of hands in the cookie jar.

Again, I think this flow is incorrect. If you haven't stopped bad data from coming in, then you are going to have to setup a data cleansing process that is on-going, or you are going to find that you have to redo this one-time data cleanse multiple times.
