If the data distribution is not known then normalization is used. Log transform is used on skewed data. Z-score is used for removing outliers. We also need to remove highly correlated features. Normalization techniques are not used in non-parametric algorithm. Also, Non-parametric algo is less sensitive to outliers.

Value metrics and their values, but don't limit yourself to one of them.
