Before attracting top talent, one should look at the company first. 1. Look at the company’s leadership Many companies lose people simply because of poor leadership. This also can be due to the HR department not listening to the employees when upper management mistreats its employees. 2. Look at the company’s culture. What are the traits of the company? Does the company harbor a toxic or harmonious environment? Does the company value its employees or tell their employees that they’re replaceable? Does the company invest in its employees or keep people where they are in fear of losing them? Before looking for “top talent” consider training the talent that you have currently with the many free resources.

Data engineering is high in demand and companies are poaching the talent here and there. A data engineer gets approached a couple of times a week by different recruiters. One of the key factors in retaining talent is to offer competitive compensation that reflects their contribution to the team and the organization.
