What do you do if your Data Analytics internship supervisor is unimpressed with your work?

I'll definitely initiate an open conversation with my supervisor to better understand their expectations and areas where I can improve. Actively listening to their feedback will help me learn and grow.

First, I'd check the assignment to make sure I understood it correctly. If everything seems fine, I'd come up with some questions about the topic and ask my manager for a meeting to discuss why my manager was not satisfied with my work. During the meeting, I'd find out what was lacking in my work and take notes on feedback. Then, I'd use that feedback to improve both the project and my own skills.

No seriously, I have learned to use communication of feedback and standards as an opportunity to meet requirements. Always take the humble route and approach your supervisor on how you can excel at your work and what best practices you can take to make them proud. They should be able to provide intricate and ample feedback that helps them feel more confident in you, and you gain extra skills in perfecting your work.

The fist step: It is very very crucial to demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and improvement. Make it a priority to show that you are a keen learner by asking questions whenever you're unsure about a task. Actively seek feedback after completing each assignment to ensure you're on the right track and to identify areas for improvement.

During my internship period, I made it a mandate to always seek feedback from my seniors, asking what I could do better, what skills I needed to acquire, etc. Overall, I was not scared to open up, especially when I did not know how to perform certain tasks in data analysis. That approach worked like magic!

As an intern, you need to have a positive mindset, as hard as it is (considering some of the negative comments you may get from senior colleagues, well it always happens) Keep in mind that this is a foundation of your career, before you react, think of your professional reputation, let that alone be a driving factor of staying positive always.
