From the simplicity of an ad layout in a newspaper to the intricate details of an illustration, there's beauty and innovation to be found everywhere. Embracing this diversity fuels my passion for design and motivates me to continuously challenge myself to explore new possibilities.

Whenever you run out of ideas, the first thing you should do is pack your bags and explore a new place. Stepping out of your comfort zone makes you more observant, which is key to new inspirations, creativity, and discovering new perspectives. Additionally, embrace failure. It's one of the best learning experiences. When you fail and try again, you learn what not to repeat and how to approach it differently. It's like a missing puzzle piece that helps complete and enhance your creative process.

After many years of working in the publishing sector (magazines, books, newspapers, covers, etc.) the best way to stay fresh, eager to work, to continue maintaining expectation and enthusiasm when it comes to seeing your work published, is all the time reinventing oneself, experimenting, every so often, presenting a new visual concept, a new aesthetic. In this permanent challenge, you may encounter some resistance with some editors, with dedication, effort and work you have to get them used to this evolution in your line. It is the only way I have found to stay actively happy, for more than 25 years in the business.

Without experimentation, you'll remain within your comfort zone, limiting growth and innovation. Push the limits, explore new techniques, and embrace the unknown for creative evolution.

This works a lot for me. I always experiment with different concepts, even though most don't make sense initially but along the line it all does.

No importa ni el material, ni la técnica, ni el sustrato y mucho menos el medio, si la idea y el concepto es claro, tu obra sobresaldrá del resto. No dejes que la técnica esté por encima de la idea. It doesn't matter the material, the technique, the substrate, much less the medium, if the idea and concept is clear, your work will stand out from the rest. Don't let the technique be above the idea.

You need collaboration in order to move things, as a freelancer or someone working for a company. There is a very misunderstanding of collaboration nowadays. In my experience, some would define collaboration as accepting what they say without thinking or you can see some forms of corruption around that word collaboration. That kind of thinking needs to change. Collaboration is the way you invite people to get involved in your work. Collaboration can be really fruitful when it's a top-down approach. But everyone can show that they are ready to help and to serve in order to make greater impact to the company. Collaboration is promoting diversity. It is welcoming every idea and don't discriminate people. Collaboration is what we need today.

Keep up to date with modern trends and the ever evolving environment. These are changing at an accelerated rate. Main contributors being social media platforms.

In order to grow your business, your team, your work, look at yourself first. Be ready to be honest with yourself. How do you bring your contribution to the team? How do you communicate your ideas in your people? What kind of system did you establish in order to inspire a great work environment? What kind of ideas do you share with your team? Those are some questions that someone, like a designer, needs to ask and to always have in mind. This is really about yourself, it is really about everything you think you brought to the company, it is really about the mission you think you want to share to your team. Be ready to do more than just what you did. Be ready to bring more values to your team. Lastly, don't forget the idea of serving people.

Get used to it, especially in such a subjective field. Get ready to resubmit design after design. Once you finally succeed, take your part failures and experiences with you to the next project. Keep on building on what you've learned.

When you fail, you are growing. The opposite will surely tell you that you are not growing at all. It's really important to know that flowers need some rain in order to grow. The rain can be seen as something that is hurting for some people but it is always something that is blessing the way you are in. The idea is simple. You will fail. But you need to stand up. Indeed, people will fail you, methodologies will fail you, decisions will fail you, everything around you will possibly fail you, but your willing to serve, your willing to learn, your willing to inspire, your willing to do more, and you willing to win, will help you succeed in any situation. For that, be kind to everyone. Sometimes we forget that failure also teaches us kindness.
