Eventhough internships can be the best starting point of your career, you need to remember that not all internships can lead to your career growth. If your goals aren't in line with your internship provider, it's better to opt out and seek new opportunities. As an intern, you shouldn't feel exploited or burnt out as in many cases, interns will be expected to work more with less pay. If that's the case, then it's a red flag.

Internships, especially the good ones, are going to give you a taste of what the real world is like outside of your traditional comfort zone. My perspective is that there are no bad internships, only poorly thought out task management and oversight. There are many different ways to track your progress, internships can be tricky, sometimes you’re supervisor will not be up to the task of managing you, because they are preoccupied with their own challenges, when that happens, take a deep breath, remember that the person you’re working with is a human being, who is just as stressed as you are. I remember, my very first internship was totally hands off, and rather than do nothing, I created my own program and then marketed it as such.
