Well. I had a problem with some rather complex SQL scripts. So I devised a method of naming columns in Tables in a way which makes them Unique to the Database in question. The idea is simple - Prefix each of the Column names with an abbreviation of the table name. So: Table1 is Configuration. The key column could be CON_gId. And: Table2 is Entities. One of the Columns points at Configuration. E_CON_gId. This column name would be unique in the database. When joining: SELECT * FROM Entities LEFT JOIN Configuration ON E_CON_gId = CON_gId No Aliases, simples. If you expand out to a larger and more complex SELECT you save ALIAS space. Further to note: Hungarian notation is used to indicate like for like in comparison reading. :)
