Every internship I have been at has involved manager 1 on 1's every 2 - 3 weeks. However, every manager I have had has approached these meetings differently. Some say directly what you are doing wrong and right and some choose to focus strictly on project milestones. The problem with the latter is that while you may be making good progress on your project there is a lot more that goes into being a good intern and ultimately a good teammate.
