Second, I would provide feedback in a respectful manner about constraints or limitations. Third, I would offer alternative solutions to help align expectations with reality. Fourth, I would be honest about challenges that may arise. Fifth, I would document everything so there is a paper trail with my boss. Sixth, I would seek support either with HR or trusted mentor if my boss won't resolve the situation directly. Seventh, I would focus on performance to the best of my abilities and document achievements. Lastly, if the situation if really that bad, I would consider my options for another job.

Negotiation skills are very important, it involves active listening & creating empathy by understanding the situation. Your negotiation skills should be in such a way that it will create a win win solution for both sides, don’t just think of yourself but consider the person across you by being understanding. Compromise through understanding, if push comes to shove involve a mediator or sometimes in some situations you will just need to learn when to say “no”!

If my boss's expectations in aviation seem unrealistic, I'd first of all have a one-on-one conversation with him/her to understand what their expectations is. Next, I'd explain respectfully and tactfully why I think the expectations are unrealistic. I'd Offer practical suggestions or alternatives I think can help actualize the expectation. I would also seek support from those that once faced similar challenge if needed. Then, I'd ensure my team understands what's achievable. In all of this I would try as much as possible to maintain professionalism throughout the process.

Es importante que estas expectativas estén enmarcadas en metas y objetivos bien definidos, de la mano de indicadores específicos que nos den una lectura puntual respecto a lo que estamos midiendo. Recomiendo siempre que los objetivos y metas sean implementados bajo la metodología SMART. Estos deben ser Específicos (Specific), measurable (Medibles), alcanzables (Achievable), realistas (Realistic) y de duración limitada (Time-bound). Así quitamos el tema de la subjetividad de estas expectativas, las cuales pueden ser un tema difícil de manejar
