What do you do if your boss doubts your ability to deliver quality R&D work?

I’ve experienced and found that 1. Timely delivery without gaps reduces the Boss’s anxiety and doubt on our work. 2. Aggressive arguments does not solve or depicts your quality work. 3. R&D work should also focus on Business requirements.

I am an R&D specialist and the work I will/do is based on a certain amount of knowledge and experience. It is not a goal for me to keep the planned scientific research only on a project basis. It needs to turn into innovative products and make a certain economic contribution. This is the result of the project working in team harmony on a company basis. If there is a "boss" in the company, these things will not work as desired. Instead of a boss, there should be a "leader".

Suppose one shows a high degree of understanding of the issues and the approaches to solve them in the considered topic of respectful R&D, or at least some awareness of the common problems arising within the said R&D. In that case, the boss will receive some reassurance. Moreover, the boss in R&D is usually a colleague and fellow scientist.

The answer to your question is that I would first tell the "Boss" that he should replace himself with a "Leader". Then I will leave this company according to the developments. Because distrust is only befitting a boss, leaders trust their staff, even in case of failure. Because R&D work needs free thinking and trust between team members...!

Adapt or die? Overcoming communication problems for a full understanding of the objectives and aims of the project it is important to limit the research to what the boss is looking for, which does not always have to do with the results of the research but with the interests of the company.
